The ‘Original Drip’ is a boutique cafe in Visage, in Dakar, Senegal 🇸🇳.
The decor is locally made by artisans; there is a focus on coffee, with the baristas trained by a coffee expert from Rwanda; everything at Original Drip is from Africa; and the bissap was honestly the best I have ever tasted!
Bissap is the national drink of Senegal and also popular across West Africa and the Caribbean where it is known by the other names including sobolo 🇬🇭, sorrel 🇯🇲, zobo 🇳🇬 and wonjo 🇬🇲.
Made from the hibiscus flower, the recipes vary slightly, for example Ghana tends to add herbs and spices which gives the drink a little kick!
Bissap has a number of health benefits, and this drink was a lovely remedy for a very hot day.
