Travel | The best EVER Bissap drink from Original Drip in Senegal πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡³

There is something so beautiful about drinking a refreshingly cold, natural drink in the midst of the African sun!

At Talking Drums, we love discovering and celebrating business and entrepreneurs doing great things in Africa.

The β€˜Original Drip’ is a boutique cafe in Visage, in Dakar, Senegal πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡³.

The decor is locally made by artisans; there is a focus on coffee, with the baristas trained by a coffee expert from Rwanda; everything at Original Drip is from Africa; and the bissap was honestly the best I have ever tasted!

Bissap is the national drink of Senegal and also popular across West Africa and the Caribbean where it is known by the other names including sobolo πŸ‡¬πŸ‡, sorrel πŸ‡―πŸ‡², zobo πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ and wonjo πŸ‡¬πŸ‡².

Made from the hibiscus flower, the recipes vary slightly, for example Ghana tends to add herbs and spices which gives the drink a little kick!

Bissap has a number of health benefits, and this drink was a lovely remedy for a very hot day.

What do they call bissap in your country? And are you a fan of the popular drink?
